Top Notch Tenants! I have done work at this place and their tenants are just AWESOME people!!
Many years and several managers ago this was a well kept, friendly park, and a great value for winter Texans. Over the years is has slipped on the upkeep, due mainly to ownership and management changes. The most recent owners and managers have proven unwilling to make the necessary investments in upkeep, and the condition of the park has deteriorated a lot because of it. Occupancy levels reflect this, with less than half of the seasonal spaces occupied during the 2015-16 season. A few years ago nearly 100% of the spaces would be full during the peak of the season.
We don't think the previous review is quite fair. We have been spending the winters at Magnolia Park in Donna for many years now and our current manager, in our opinion is doing a good job. There is only so much a manager can do. In the end, it's only the owners who can make real changes.
While it is true that the occupancy rate was down this past season at Magnolia, that was true of many parks in the Rio Grande Valley. There were many fewer Canadians for example, due to the current exchange rate. The demographics change over the years and we are guessing that in the future, there will be fewer RVers who leave home in the winter and spend it in one location. The trend seems to be going one place for a month and renting a condo or timeshare and then perhaps going somewhere else and doing the same thing. We return to Magnolia Park each season because the other residents have become like family , the spots are roomy and the park is very well located in the Valley. The current manager, we think, is the best we have had in many years. She is trying to attract new residents and we wish her luck. Jim and Deon Spangler
If you are looking to spend the winter in a park in the middle Rio Grand Valley, I would suggest passing up Magnolia Park until they put a higher priority on upkeep and responsiveness to residents' concerns. I have several opportunities each week to visit many of the other parks in the area, and most seem to do a better job of keeping their facilities up, and thus offer a better value and experience for winter Texans.
The residents of the park, both year-round and seasonal, continue to be the park's biggest asset. They are a friendly bunch, and very welcoming of new arrivals, but the condition of the park does cause some not to return each year. Most of those who continue to stay do so simply because of the long term friendships they have built with other residents.
We have been coming to Magnolia Park for many years and continue to enjoy it very much. It is just like coming home when we arrive and see all our old friends. The manager this past season did a lot to improve the park and did a great job! Come and join our family.......we are down here to have fun and Magnolia Park is the place to be.
Quiet , clean, comfortable and friendly.
NOTE: The ownership of this park has changed once again during the past year, and the new owner says he is committed to upgrading and maintaining the park in better condition. Also, one of the more responsive previous site managers has returned, so things may turn for the better this year.
